Butterfly Crochet Pattern (Garden Friends Series)
This Butterfly is part of the beginner friendly crochet Garden Friends Series I created and it has a video tutorial that goes along with it. This pattern is beginner friendly and feel free to use different color combinations for the wings to end up with even more vibrant and whimsical designs!
Supplies:
- 4mm hook
- weight 4 yarn (lighter color(gold), darker color(orange), tan)
- stuffing
- scissors
- 6mm safety eyes
- crochet needle
Abbreviations for the Garden Friends Series:
- st - stitch
- r - row/round
- ch - chain
- mr - magic ring
- sc - single crochet
- inc - 2 stitches in one space
- dec - crocheting 2 stitches together
- hdc - half double crochet
- BLO - back loop only
- f/o - fasten off
- * - repeat section
- [] - total stitch count at end of row
Pattern starts HERE:
*with Tan*
you will be working in continuous rounds (no sl st)
Start by: creating a magic ring
R1: sc6 in mr [6]
R2: inc6 [12]
R3-R7: sc12 around [12]
-place safety eyes now, between R4 and R5 (2 stitches apart)-
R8: *sc, dec* repeat around [8]
-stuff at this point and continue stuffing the body as you crochet-
R9-R21: sc8 around [8]
R22: dec4 [4]
f/o, weave in end to close hole-
Antennas:
make a slip knot and attach yarn to right antenna spot, ch4, sl st back down x3, cut yarn, pull long strand through the left antenna spot, ch4, sl st 3, pull yarn through, f/o (this part is a little complicated please see video explanation if you are having trouble!)
The Wings (make 2):

you will be working in rows to create the Wings

R1: working back down the chain, sc2, inc [4]
R2: ch 1, turn, inc, sc2, inc [6]
R3: ch 1, turn, sc5, inc [7]
R4: ch 1, turn, inc, sc6 [8]
R5: ch 1, turn, sc7, inc [9]
R6: ch 1, turn, inc, sc6, dec [9]
R7: ch 1, turn, dec, sc6, inc [9]
R8: ch 1, turn, inc, sc6, dec [9]
R9: ch 1, turn, dec, sc7 [8]
R10: ch 1, turn, sc7, inc [9]
R11: ch 1, turn, inc, sc8 [10]
R12: ch 1, turn, dec, sc7, inc [10]
R13: ch 1, turn, inc, sc7, dec [10]
R14: ch 1, turn, dec, sc7, inc [10]
R15: ch 1, turn, sc8, dec [9]
R16: ch 1, turn, dec, sc7 [8]
R17: ch 1, turn, sc6, dec [7]
