Button Eyes + Looking Stone Free Crochet Pattern
This crochet pattern is inspired by my favorite movie: Coraline! Both the button eyes and the looking stone projects are easy and quick! Perfect for beginners and can be turned into cute bag charms.
Supplies:
- 5mm hook
- weight 4 yarn (dark green and light green for the looking glass)
- weight 4 yarn (black or whatever color you want your buttons to be)
- crochet needle
- scissors
Abbreviation:
- st - stitch
- r - row/round
- ch - chain
- mr - magic ring
- sc - single crochet
- hdc - half double crochet
- dc - double crochet
- BLO - back loop only
- f/o - fasten off
- * - repeat section
- [] - total stitch count at end of row
start by creating a magic ring
R1: (ch2, dc, ch2, dc2, ch2, dc2, ch2, dc2, ch2) in the mr, sl st into the ch2 you started with
R2: ch1 *hdc2 in the same space, hdc4 in corner space, repeat from * 3 more times, sl st into first hdc
R3: ch1, BLO, sc around, sl st and f/o
Make another button. Place the wrong sides together and use your crochet needle to stitch the edges of the buttons together to create one button with right sides facing out! So it's pretty on both sides and thick enough to be a bag charm!
LOOKING STONE PATTERN STARTS HERE:
take both your light green and dark green strands of yarn and make a slip knot with them together (we will be crocheting with double strands)
Start by chaining 12, sl st into the first chain to make a ring
R1: ch2, (1dc, ch1, 1dc), 2dc in the next three stitches, repeat * 2 more times, sl st, f/o
