Snail Crochet Pattern (Garden Friends Series)

 This cute little crocheted snail is part of my beginner series: Garden Friends. There is a crochet tutorial video version available that goes along with the written pattern for better understanding. This snail charm is perfect for garden lovers and whimsical friends alike. This pattern is beginner friendly and fast if you are in a hurry. 

Supplies: 

  • 4mm hook
  • weight 4 yarn (tan, dark brown)
  • stuffing
  • scissors 
  • 6mm safety eyes
  • crochet needle
Abbreviations for the Garden Friends Series:
  • st - stitch
  • r - row/round
  • ch - chain
  • mr - magic ring
  • sc - single crochet
  • inc - 2 stitches in one space
  • dec - crocheting 2 stitches together
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • BLO - back loop only
  • f/o - fasten off
  • * - repeat section
  • [] - total stitch count at end of row
Pattern starts HERE (THE BODY):

*with Tan*

you will be working in continuous rounds (no sl st)

Start by: creating a magic ring

R1: sc6 in mr [6]

R2: inc6 [12]

R3-R7: sc12 around [12]

-place safety eyes now, between R4 and R5 (2 stitches apart)-

R8: *sc, dec* repeat around [8]

-stuff at this point and ONLY STUFF THE HEAD, LEAVE THE BODY FLAT

R9-R21: sc8 around [8]

R22:  dec4 [4]

f/o, weave in end to close hole DON’T STUFF BODY-

Antennas:
make a slip knot and attach yarn to right antenna spot, ch4, sl st back down x3, cut yarn, pull long strand through the left antenna spot, ch4, sl st 3, pull yarn through, f/o (this part is a little complicated please see video explanation if you are having trouble!)

SNAIL SHELL:

*with dark brown*

you will be working in continuous rounds (no sl st)

Start by: creating a magic ring

R1: sc6 in mr [6]

R2: inc6 [12]

R3: BLO *sc, inc* repeat around [18]

R4: BLO *sc2, inc* repeat around [24]

R5-R6: sc24 around [24]

f/o, create a 2nd shell piece, sew the pieces together and stuff in between. attach the shell to the body with hot glue or sewing-
